BACKGROUND

According to Statista, the global skincare market is expected to grow from 143.5 billion dollars in 2022 to over 186 billion by 2028. The market growth indicates the increase of skincare awareness and the amount of people needing skincare products. From the stat, a majority of people would do personal or online research, trying to find the most suitable product before purchasing.

Challenges in Product Searching

To understand user’s pain points when finding a suitable cosmetic product, I conducted surveys and interviews, analyzing the below insights.

Most users often spend more than 30 minutes researching products

Generating Solutions Through Personas and Journey Map

Since our skin condition changes with environment, habits or hormones, users can quickly understand their current skin condition with the AI face-scanning.

2. Customized Recommendation with AI

After scanning, users can answer questions or input specific personal concerns for optimal recommendations by the AI.

3. Side by Side Comparison

Besides AI, users can also explore side-by-side comparisons when searching for a preferred product in the app.

Thoughts After the Project

Throughout the project, I learned to design a user-friendly flow for an AI chatbot, integrating complex details with a clear typographic approach. I also gained insights into the differences in designing for various software systems. Overall, this project was a valuable opportunity to understand innovative AI design and stay updated with the rapidly evolving tech landscape.
